The Coolest Credit Cards

multifunctional credit card

This multi-functional credit card of the future comes with a video phone, GPS system, remote control, a built-in program that displays discounts, and a gaming device with network support. It relies upon biometric fingerprint technology to authorize users before performing any secure action. But you kind of have to ask yourself why an amazing device would center itself around a credit card.

bmw credit card

This rather strange but cool payment system is offered by BMW, allowing drivers to pay for parking spaces or fast food on the fly. The system is a collaboration between VISA and BMW and also allows users to download music tracks straight to their onboard media center. Not sure how effective it is now, but it may develop into something extremely useful in the future. The picture here shows the credit card being inserted into the device, although I’m not sure it works that way. I wonder if you can pay for speeding tickets too?

cell phone paypass

The Mastercard Mobile Paypass system allows cell phone subscribers to swipe their cell phones instead of their credit cards. It’s handy if you don’t carry your wallet, or if you want to consolidate your wallet and your communications device. Coupled with mobile banking on your cell phone, you can turn yourself into a mobile banking center.

citibank rfid credit card

The Citibank RFID credit card is a radio frequency activated device that replaces the old magnetic strip based credit cards of the past. It’s a pretty neat addition to your keychain, but a bit bulky at the same time, especially if credit cards can be used the same way now. Nevertheless, a handy little payment gadget. Just make sure you can find your keys.

But the latest technology is “contactless credit cards” which work just like the Citibank key fob device above, but in the convenient familiarity of a plastic credit card. You simply swipe the contactless credit card above the terminal and you’re done. The transaction is quick and easy, and you keep the credit card in your possession at all times. Good for avoiding credit card skimmer scams. Visa has the “Visa PayWave”, Mastercard has the “Paypass”, and American Express has “ExpressPay”. I believe the Blue from American Express offers the technology now, and possibly the American Express Clear as well.

Hopefully these credit cards will prove to be both safe and efficient, especially with the astounding amount of credit card fraud that take places every year.
