Citi Premier Card Categories: Earn 3X on Gas, Groceries, and More

bonus

I wanted to do a simple post that focused solely on the Citi Premier Card categories. Why?

Because I have the card in my wallet and constantly forget what it offers. But I know it comes with a lot of good stuff.

So if nothing else, this will serve as a good reminder and personal reference.

The Citi Premier Card is one of the few credit cards out there with solid bonus multiples in major spending categories.

And Citi ThankYou Points can be transferred to more than a dozen frequent flyer programs.

This means it’s easy to earn lots of ThankYou Points via regular spending. So without further ado…

All Other Purchases1X

As you can see, the Citi Premier Card has you covered in five major (and useful) spending categories.

You earn 3X for all air travel, gas station, hotel, restaurant, and grocery store purchases.

That’s pretty impressive. If you purchase gift cards at supermarkets, you can extend the 3X to other merchants you shop with as well.

While not as high as some other credit cards and their 5X categories, it’s a much more well-rounded card. No other card offers this many 3X+ categories.

And it’s just easy. Instead of fumbling between five different credit cards (and their separate annual fees), you’ve got most of what you want in one card.

Yes, I still fumble around with many other cards, but I continue to be impressed by what Citi Premier has to offer. Especially for only $95 per year and a solid sign-up bonus.

Even if you don’t earn 5X, you might earn more overall if more of your spending earns 3X.

As noted, this is also more easily accomplished via a single credit card.
