Opt in to Credit Card Payment Alerts
Published October 29th, 2007 in Credit Help and Tips.
If you’ve got a few credit cards, let alone utility bills and other monthly obligations, it can be difficult to keep track of everything to ensure you make timely payments.
Typically each account will have a different payment due date so you really need to keep on your toes to avoid a missed payment.
Remember, if you miss a payment you’ll be subject to late fees and even universal default immediately.
And these days, credit card issuers will waste no time raising your APR if you miss a payment, often if it’s just days late.
Luckily many, if not all of these credit card issuers offer payment alerts that remind you to pay your bills on time.
These automated payment alerts can easily be turned on if you utilize online banking with your credit card issuers.
Simply visit the website(s) and find the payment alert section, then simply opt in and set the payment reminders accordingly.
You can usually set them to your liking, giving yourself a buffer period to be warned before the payment is due.
The payment alerts will then be sent directly to your e-mail address whenever it’s time to make a payment.
They can be a real life saver, especially if you’ve got a lot of credit cards, or simply have a lot going on in your life.
If you opt in to payment alerts, you’ll greatly reduce your chances of paying a bill late, and likely boost your credit score in the process.
