Get $200 Back on Your Old iPhone Purchase
Published September 10th, 2007 in Credit News.
If you bought an iPhone before the recent $200 pricing rebate, fret not.
There’s a chance you can get the full $200 rebate if you used a credit card with a price protection policy.
Sure the $100 credit offered by Apple is more than most corporations would provide, but why get a store credit if you can get a $200 refund?
Pricing protection programs guarantee the lowest price on items you purchase with your credit card and will pay you the difference up to a certain amount if a lower price is advertised within a certain period of time.
This period is usually 60-90 days depending upon the credit card issuer.
Sources have already confirmed that American Express is offering the full rebate so long as it was purchased within 90 days of your claim.
Call 800-297-8019 and tell them that you’re inquiring about the iPhone price drop.
I’ve heard reports that some refunds have been successful, while others are up in the air.
Not sure if anyone has actually received the refund yet, but customers have been told that it will be processed and added to their accounts in about two weeks.
If you used a different credit card issuer, the outcome may be less favorable as this seems to be a special one-time deal from American Express.
