After news of a Bank of America credit card aimed at illegal immigrants was released a few weeks ago, public criticism has been high.

News media, politicians, and the public have attacked the controversial credit card program, claiming Bank of America targets illegal immigrants with their new credit card that doesn’t require a social security number, calling it a threat to national security.

The bank said it doesn’t deliberately market such programs to illegal immigrants from any country, but said it has an obligation to serve everyone in the US who needs it.

He made it clear that the program was created to help consumers who lack certain financial tools, and not so much a card intended for those who were in this country illegally.

Bank of America has also seen increased criticism from Congress and other political pundits who liken the use of this card to a new opportunity for terrorists to fund violent operations in the United States and worldwide.

As the disapproval continues to mount, Bank of America may want to consider putting the program on hold, or revising program guidelines despite its compliance with the USA Patriot Act.
